If you’re planning a stag do, you want to go somewhere that’ll keep the lads fed, watered and entertained without dragging the group across half the city. We visited Granny Annies Belfast and it ticked every box for us. Here’s why we think it’s spot on for stag groups.
The Feast
Don’t come to Granny Annies expecting tiny plates of food. The kitchen here is built for hungry groups and it shows. Kick things off with starters from the set menu. Tuck into double wings coated in sticky sauce with a proper blue cheese dip, pulled pork dirty fries, a gyros plate, complete with warm flatbread and tzatziki that you could tear and share and much more.

Then came the mains and this is where things got serious at Granny Annies Belfast. The Southern Fried Chicken Burger turned up like a tower to conquer with buttermilk fried chicken, cheese and peppered sauce. You had to lean in and commit to that first bite or risk wearing it. The Steak and Guinness Pie was a proper bit of comfort grub, served with champ and flaky pastry that held up until the very last forkful. The chicken curry came with chips, rice and a poppadom.

Burgers were a massive hit too. The BML Burger with Irish cheddar, bacon and Granny’s sauce was juicy and full of flavour. And if fish and chips is your go-to, you’ll be happy. The beer battered cod was absolutely massive, and if you wanted to push it Belfast-style, you could get the full fish supper treatment with curry sauce and mushy peas. The portions were no joke so no one in our group went hungry.
By the time desserts rolled around, we thought we’d be defeated, but who can resist sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb ice cream? Also on the menu was chocolate fudge cake, jam and coconut sponge with custard and a cherry bakewell cheesecake.
Cocktails and Pints
Now let’s talk about the drinks because Granny Annies Belfast doesn’t mess about. The cocktail menu is massive and a bit cheeky, with all the classics like mojitos, martinis and daiquiris, plus a range of house specials. Forget any silly assumptions about cocktails not being the manliest choice. They taste great, go down easy and get everyone merry. What’s not to love? The bartenders don’t skimp on the measures either, so every round hit the spot.

It’s also worth checking out any deals to help keep the drinks flowing without torching the Belfast stag do fund. Of course, cocktails weren’t the only thing on the table. Guinness was poured thick and creamy, lagers were crisp and cold and the whisky shelf was calling for a few brave souls later in the night.
The staff behind the bar were fast, sharp and clearly used to handling groups like ours. They were friendly, they kept the drinks moving and they never left us waiting long enough to lose momentum.
Quirky Decor
Granny Annies is jam-packed with quirky decor and that’s part of what makes it such a laugh. It’s like stepping into your gran’s house if your gran had a wild imagination and a habit of collecting every lamp, radio and bit of floral wallpaper she ever found. The furniture is mismatched in the best possible way with odd trinkets in every corner. Look up and you’ll spot lampshades dangling in different shapes and colours. Look around and you’ll catch sight of ornaments that make no sense but somehow work together. It’s eccentric, cheeky and memorable and a great backdrop to any group photos.

Friendly Staff
Let’s be honest, big groups can be chaos but the team at Granny Annies handled it like pros. From the second we walked in, they were lovely. Our orders were taken quickly, drinks kept coming and food hit the table hot and on time. The staff were professional and efficient throughout but also friendly and warm, making us feel welcome and relaxed from the get-go.

Live Music and DJ
One of the best parts of the night was the entertainment. Granny Annies Belfast has live music every evening, and when the band fired up, the whole place lifted. They played songs everyone knew, and before long the entire room was clapping, singing and throwing in a few dodgy harmonies. Later on, the DJ took over and kept the momentum going. The best thing was that we didn’t have to head anywhere else with dinner, drinks and music all under one roof. It totally eliminated the extra time or cost of going searching for somewhere else to go. somewhere else.

Right in the Heart of Belfast
Location matters on a stag night in Belfast and Granny Annies is perfectly located on Chichester Street in Belfast city centre. It’s easy to get to whether you’re living or staying nearby or coming in from a hotel on the edge of town. Taxis are quick and bus stops are close, and if you’re already central, you can walk there. That central spot also means you’ve got options. You can build Granny Annies into a bigger night out or, like us, settle in and stay until close. The city’s clubs and late bars are all within walking distance if you want to carry on, but honestly, we found ourselves very happy inside Granny Annies bar that we didn’t need to move.

Why It Works for a Stag Do
The food is massive and spot on, the drinks are delicious and well-priced, the atmosphere is buzzing and the staff are lovely. Add in the live music and DJ, plus the central location, and you’ve got everything you need for a night that runs itself. No hassle or faffing around, just a good time from start to finish.
Another big plus is that Granny Annies is really popular with hen parties, so there will be lots of cheeky hen groups to mix and mingle with. Whether you’re after a big dinner, a few rounds to get started or a full night that goes from food to music without ever leaving your seat, this place always delivers.
